Thieves in Green country are targeting Sport Utility Vehicles but they are not stealing them instead they are taking a certain part off them.

In the latest break-in the thieves hit nine SUV’s at Roberts Auto Center in Pryor including Denalis, Tahoes, Suburbans and Yukons that was nearly the entire stock of the businesses 2010 model for those brands.

Almost all of the businesses 2010 models for those brands.

However, the thieves are caught on tape.

Two suspected thieves roll up to Roberts Auto center  in what appears to be a black or dark blue Chevy Truck with a step side and brush guard are also spotted in the garden center at Wal-mart, buying what officers say is a garden hoe used to break the windows of the SUV’s they target.

"This was the slip of that we were needing them to do," says Pryor Police Detective Doug Barham.

Police believe they have hit car dealerships in Owasso, Claremore, possibly Sapulpa.

At Roberts Auto Center in Pryor police say the crooks have hit three times February causing more than $40,000 in damage on each hit.

The thieves are after the third-row seats in the SUV’s.

"They fold up like little suitcases so they can carry two and one each hand and go walking off with them,” says Roberts Auto Center Operations Manager Ken Spencer.

"This [third-row seat] one was $900, this [third-row seat] one here is $900 and that [rear window] is probably at least $1,500 worth of damage so you have four or five grand on each vehicle," says Spencer.

On the black market a third row seat can sell for a few hundred dollars and they’re tough to track.

Police say they are looking on Craigslist and so is the business.

"There are markings on them. As far as serial numbers on other car parts that have actually VIN number on the part," says Spencer.

That makes the surveillance video even more important as efforts continue throughout the area to catch a couple of crooks who may be bold but the dealership says not brave.

"Brave should be reserved for our heroes on Memorial day that we are actually celebrating. It's outlandish that people do that,” says Spencer.

Roberts Auto Center in Pryor and Classic Auto in Owasso are offering a $2,500 reward for anyone who has information that leads to an arrest. If you have any information call Pryor Police at (918) 825-1212.
