Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Tulsa announced the debut of KTGX 106.1 The Twister, beginning July 3, at noon.

106.1 The Twister plays new country music programming. Tulsa’s new country station will launch playing commercial free country music through Monday, July 9. 106.1 The Twister will be announcing a local morning show and additional local talent soon.

“We are thrilled to bring The Twister brand to Tulsa’s airwaves. Tulsa has a huge appetite for country music and The Twister will break new country songs and artists,” said Jon Phillips, Market Manager, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Tulsa. “The Twister has enjoyed a 19 year heritage in Oklahoma City and we look forward to similar results in the Tulsa market.”

“The Twister will definitely be successful in Tulsa’s competitive country market,” said Don Cristi, Operations Manager, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Tulsa. “It’s going to be exciting to watch this station grow our listener base and offer more programming options for our listeners.”

Fans can listen to 106.1 The Twister on the station’s website, www.1061thetwister.com as well as on as well as on iHeartRadio.com and the iHeartRadio mobile app.

What was wrong with GenX radio? That was pretty much my only source for 90s music(more than Mix96)! I can't stand country music. Not to mention that it doesn't help us break out of the nation's stereotypical of us Okies!
