The Tulsa County Sheriff’s office said tests did not reveal the type of powder found in a letter sent to an inmate in June.
The powder was found in a letter in the mail room on June 26th. The Tulsa Fire Department Hazmat unit was called to investigate and secure the area, but could not determine the type of powder. It was then sent to Oklahoma City for further testing.
Those tests did not determine the type of powder either. They did determine that the compound tested negative for any biological chemicals as well as any chemicals that could be hazardous to humans or the environment.
The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office will continue investigating where the letter came from in an attempt to identify the sender’s motive, intent and type of substance.
