TU basketball player Pat Swilling Jr. is under investigation after being accused of rape by a fellow student. The Tulsa Police Department told that to FOX23 Friday and confirmed a protective order against Swilling, filed by his accuser, was granted.
FOX23 reported last week the senior guard was suspended from the team pending a university disciplinary investigation and hearing. TU did not say at the time why Swilling was suspended.
It's important to note Swilling has not been charged with anything, but he is the suspect in a criminal investigation.
"We take these cases very seriously," said Officer Jillian Roberson with the Tulsa Police Department. "It doesn't matter if you're a basketball player at TU or not. We're still going to investigate this and look into these allegations."
TU sent FOX23 the following statement Friday: "The University of Tulsa responded to this matter immediately after it was reported on February 11, 2014 to university security and local law enforcement officials. A disciplinary investigation is currently underway, therefore we will have no additional comment at this time."
