UPDATE - TPS released a statement to correct the date of hire for Maxey. He was rehired to the district in January 5, 2009, not 2010.
-- In a press release issued by Tulsa Public Schools they stated that TPS cooperated fully with officers from the Oklahoma State University
campus police department and Tulsa Police, who took a Will Rogers High School
paraprofessional into custody after school on Tuesday, October 19.
Aundrae E. Maxey, Sr. was hired on January 5, 2010, as a paraprofessional at Will Rogers High School. He had previously worked in the same position and location from August 21, 2006 until October 6, 2008 when left in good standing to pursue other opportunities.
TPS says that Mr. Maxey has had no prior disciplinary issues. The district also said that Mr. Maxey has been suspended pending further personnel action. The law and district policy require that employees be compensated during periods of suspension.
TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Public School employee Aundrae Maxey was arrested on the campus of Will Rogers High School yesterday afternoon on a burglary warrant. TPS police say Oklahoma State University campus police served the warrant and made the arrest around 4:15 p.m.
Upon serving the warrant, authotities searched his vehicle and found a hand gun, pot and drug paraphernalia.
Maxey has been released on bond.
TPS says they will be issuing a statement shortly.
