A man accused of killing two girls in Weleetka entered a not guilty plea on Thursday.
Kevin Sweat is charged with the murders of Skyla Whitaker, 11, and Taylor Paschal Placker, 13, in 2008.
In January, a judge heard Sweat's taped confession to the shooting deaths. During the recording, Sweat denies killing the girls but later admits he panicked and shot them. He described the girls as monsters and said he had a hard time knowing what was real.
Sweat is also charged for the death of his fiancee, Ashley Taylor, that trial is scheduled for June. Defense attorneys are asking for a change of venue for that trial, they say the Weleetka case has gotten too much attention and Sweat couldn't get a fair trial.
