FOX23 confirmed with the Skiatook Fire Department that a large grass fire is burning west of State Highway 20.
Our FOX23 crew was on the way to the grass fire when officials closed State Highway 20 due to poor visibility from the fire's smoke.
State Highway 20 was closed for a little over two hours before the smoke cleared enough for authorities to say it was safe to drive through again.
The fire is not completely out, but is burning in a vacant field.
Multiple crews, including those from the Skiatook Fire Department and Morgan's Corner Fire Department were on the scene fighting the flames.
Only a few fire trucks remain to assure the wind does not feed the small flames enough to start another wild grass fire.
When our FOX23 crews arrived on the scene, we spoke with a man whose house was only 15 feet from the flames.
