Friday night a suspected sexual predator was caught in Owasso.
Officers say they set up a sting and caught Joshua Snow.
They said Snow thought he was texting a 13-year-old boy but actually it was the Owasso Police Department texting him.
Our FOX23 crew went to Owasso and spoke with officers about how they first learned about Snow.
and four days later they've made the arrest and put Snow behind bars.
The Owasso police department found out about this situation on Monday. Police received a tip from concerned parents about a man contacting their 13-year-old son in chat rooms and via text.
A detective then started communicating with the suspect who had a clear goal in mind," sexual propositions,” from a 13-year old boy that turned out to be a 35-year-old man to what he thought was a 13-year-old boy."
That 35-year-old man is Joshua Snow from Tulsa.
"He arrived on seen in his car, to the meeting and the officers were there hidden when he arrived on scene. They approached him, identified themselves and placed him under arrest,” said Owasso Deputy Chief of Police Jason Woodruff.
Snow was arrested on lewd acts or proposals to a child, procuring a minor child for pornography, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and unlawful delivery of marijuana.
"These are really rare. I’m not gonna say they never happen, they happen in every community.
The Internet granted predators access to a lot more people than they had years ago," said Woodruff.
Police tell FOX23 they haven't seen a crime like this in Owasso in some time.
"It’s been awhile since we've had an incident like this in Owasso, but it's out there," confirmed Woodruff.
Deputy Chief of Police Jason Woodruff also wanted to stress that if anyone out there knows of other victims contacted by Snow to inform the Owasso police about it.
