TPD homicide investigators say they've arrested William Matthew Stick, 20, after his mother, Veronica Stick, was stabbed to death at her home in Midtown Tulsa Friday afternoon.

An exterminator found Mrs. Stick, 43,  suffering from a wound to her chest on a front porch near 24th and Knoxville just after 3pm.  She was rushed to St. John where she was pronounced dead.

Police were able to track down her son, who was the last person seen with her.  His car was found abandoned near 36th and S. Peoria.  He was arrested less than a mile from there, while walking near 29th and S. Peoria, around 8pm Friday night.  An arrest report says officers observed a bloodstain on Stick's blue jeans.

He's being held in the Tulsa Co. Jail on a first-degree murder complaint.  It is unclear at this time what the motive was for the stabbing, say detectives.

The arrest report also says Stick kicked an officer in the knee as he was being transported from the detective division to the jail.  The officer was forced to put Stick on the ground to control his aggression.  Stick was also booked on a complaint of assault on a police officer.

Stick is being held without bond.

William Matthew Stick apparently went by "Matt."  His Facebook page says he is employed as a sexton at All Souls Unitarian Church located at 29th and S. Peoria, but his name is not listed on the church's website as a staff member.  However, Veronica Stick is listed on All Souls Unitarian Church's web page as an administrative assistant.  Stick was arrested in the same area of 29th & Peoria though portions of the arrest report are redacted.

Veronica Stick also had a bio on Kirk of the Hills web page.  The bio states that she and her husband have two sons and a daughter, and Matt is the middle child.  It states that her husband is a TPS school teacher.

The victim's husband did not want to talk on camera, saying the family was hurting and he lost a wife and a son.  Church members declined on-camera interviews as well, deferring to All Souls' lead pastor.  One woman told FOX23 she understood Matt Stick suffered from mental health issues.

They are all GOOD people-I know them all. This is a such a terrible thing for the family and everyone who knew them-including Matt. This is one of those times when bad things happen to GOOD people. I hope the community stands up in support of this entire family-including Matt-as they face the days ahead without a Absolutely Fabulous woman, wife, mom, friend, & Christian.
