FOX23 has learned the 83-year-old Skiatook grandfather who was shot at his home last Wednesday has died.

Skiatook police said they are now investigating the case as a homicide.

They said there are two people of interest.

Ken Cooper’s grandson, Brandon James, talked with FOX23 reporter Price McKeon Sunday.

He said “How do we do things? How do we function? How do we do normal life without him?”

Police said Cooper died Saturday evening.

FOX23 was there Wednesday, near North Buffalo and Village Park, when Skiatook police wrapped crime scene tape around Cooper's home.

Police said the grandfather called 911 at about 2:15 a.m. Wednesday he was shot in the stomach.

Police initially expected Cooper to survive.

James said his grandfather’s health changed on Friday.

He said, “Things started going downhill real fast and that's when the nurse called me and said I needed to be up there.”

As of Sunday, police have not made an arrest.

James said, “I just hope that they catch the guy, so we can start our grieving process because right now everybody is just a little shook up and scared.”

James said, “There’s going to be a lot of rumors. Of course everything is really helpful. It’s just a process.”

James said mixed emotions have kept him from grieving.

He said, “I’m just numb from, you know, being sad and mad at the same time.”

While police continue to search for answers, James is seeking justice for the man who was a big part of his life.

Police said the two people of interest are not related to Cooper as far as they know.

They said they recovered a stolen car from nearby the home and are investigating to see if is connected to the case.

We will post new details on FOX23.com as they become available.
