A teacher's assistant at Jenks West Elementary School was hit by a car driven by a parent while they were supervising at the school drop-off site.

A police report filed by the Jenks Campus Police showed that Carolyn Crow was arrested after she disregarded safety procedures at the school drop-off site on Friday morning.

Parents told FOX23 that before and after school can be chaotic, but staff members at Jenks West Elementary School make pedestrian crosswalks a safety priority.

"They have a lot of teachers and teacher's assistants out directing traffic," said Canada Flocks.

Another parent of a kindergarten student told FOX23 that staff members go above and beyond their duties to make sure that the children are safe.

On Friday morning, the school's safety procedures were tested.

"Obviously we never want anything to happen, but that's why we have the plans and procedures in place so that when it does we have a quick reaction time," said Bonnie Rogers, chief information officer for Jenks Public Schools.

Police reports show that Carolyn Crow was attempting to drop of her child at school on Friday morning but didn't follow normal safety procedures for proper drop off.

Crow reportedly told the teacher's assistant who was assisting with traffic flow that the drop-off site didn't feel safe. The report stated that Crow became belligerent and indicated that she needed to go because she was out of gas. The staff member indicated that Crow could not leave because there were pedestrians in the street.

Rogers told FOX23 that teacher's assistant put her arms out to try to stop the driver from proceeding but it didn't work.

"The driver ended up hitting the employee with their car," said Rogers.
Rogers said the employee was not hurt in the accident.

Parents said that the whole ordeal was unnerving but they are grateful for the teachers and staff guard the cross walk.

"It makes me sad that that would happen," said Amanda Kelly.

Crow was transported to David L. Moss Correctional Facility in Tulsa. She was booked on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

A teacher beating on a car hood isnt exactly the same as being "hit by a car."
