FOX23 has learned that two people are now in custody in connection with the shooting death of an 83-year-old man.
This shooting was breaking news last Wednesday on FOX23 News Daybreak.
Ken Cooper was shot in his home and died a few days later in the hospital.
Monday police arrested Aaron King and Amanda Auten.
The Tulsa County Sheriff’s office has even gotten involved in the case. They were called out to search a pond less than half a mile from Cooper’s home.
Skiatook police told us they got a tip that evidence may be somewhere in the water. So Monday, they called the sheriff’s dive team in to help them look.
It's been a case that's developed almost daily since it happened, and the Skiatook Police Department is working endlessly to find answers.
"We had some information come in over the past 24-48 hours,” detective Shane Thompson said.
He wouldn’t tell FOX23 what exactly led to the arrests, but when we asked if the stolen car found near the scene was a major part of it, he said yes.
Aaron King and Amanda Auten are in police custody. FOX23 was at the police station when the two were taken to the Osage County Jail.
It's not the only headway police made Monday. They have reason to believe something helpful is lying at the bottom of the pond.
"It could be a variety of evidence,” Thompson told FOX23. “Anything from items taken from the house to a weapon, to clothing. We're looking for anything that might be out there."
The dive team searched for six hours Monday. They didn't find anything yet, but they will continue searching. Skiatook police officers plan to stay around the area and keep a close eye on the pond.
