A flight goes off the runway at Tulsa International Airport after the pilot says the plane was put on a short runway.
The Delta flight was heading to Atlanta and was scheduled to take off Thursday morning at 6 a.m. FOX23’s News Director, Matt Brown, was on the plane when the incident occurred. He said the plane was taxiing at a low speed when passengers felt a thud inside the cabin.
Another passenger,Clint Greer, described what happened, "He tries to make a u-turn and comes to a stop and a little later he tells us we're stuck in the grass and they were trying to get buses to us."
The pilot told passengers the runway the plane was placed on was too short. When the pilot tried to turn the plane around the nose gear rolled into the grass and sunk more than a foot into the ground.
Shuttles took the passengers to the arrival terminal. One Delta ticketing agent tried to reschedule flights for the more than 70 passengers.
Airport spokeswoman Alexis Higgins said the plane was removed from the runway around 11 a.m.
