Social media is helping people across the country show support for one Watertown resident.

David Henneberry became a hero when he discovered Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, hiding in his boat in his backyard. Henneberry called police and during a standoff with the suspect his boat was riddled with bullet holes.

The incident destroyed Henneberry’s boat, reportedly a 22-foot Seahawk cruiser that retails for around $50,000. Since then there has been an outpouring of support to help replace Henneberry’s boat on social media sites.

A group using the website “CrowdTilt” has raised more than $6,700 so far.
