Owasso Animal Control is asking for help to identify a dog that bit a child at an Owasso Petsmart on Saturday.
Officials say an eight-year old boy was bitten on the arm while petting a customer’s dog while in line at the store. The child was taken to the hospital and police were called, but the dog’s owner was gone when police arrived.
Officials say the dog’s owner does not face any charges, they want to locate the dog to prevent the child from having to get painful rabies vaccinations. The dog is described as "possibly" being yellow with medium to long hair.
The boy’s family tells FOX23 they will start the vaccinations on Friday, in hopes the dog is identified before the shots begin.
Animal Control officers are asking the dog’s owner or anyone with information call Owasso Animal Control Office at 918-272-4965 immediately.
