One man is dead after Tulsa police say an argument ended in gunfire.
Police tell FOX23 Michael Lyke was killed in an apartment near Oklahoma Street and north Wheeling Avenue just after noon Sunday.
Investigators said Deandre Simon came clean as the shooter and turned himself in to police, but was not arrested.
FOX23 checked into the case, speaking with multiple Tulsa Police officers at the Gilcrease division in North Tulsa.
It's a case that was developing throughout the day on Sunday.
Homicide detectives tell us the argument was over drug money and that the man who showed up to collect never walked back out.
FOX23 dug into the case and found out Michael Lyke went to Deandre Simon's house to collect a drug debt owed to him.
Police furthered their investigation and found that Lyke allegedly started assaulting Simon with his gun and also assaulted Simon's girlfriend.
That's when Simon went to his bedroom and grabbed a shotgun out of the closet.
Lyke went to look for Simon in the bedroom and that's when Simon pulled the trigger, killing Michael Lyke.
Just moments after hearing Michael Lyke was gone, the family had a feeling of despair and disbelief all in one look.
Tape, evidence and bystanders filled the street of North Wheeling Avenue.
"There were cops swarming everywhere," said Thomas Chavez.
A homicide investigation continues as police look for more details.
"They were just searching the place," said Chavez.
Searching for answers in what police say is Tulsa's third homicide of the year.
Detectives told FOX23 Deandre Simon pulled the trigger of the shotgun and openly admitted to killing Michael Lyke after Lyke pulled a gun on him and his girlfriend.
Police say Simon was arrested Sunday because of an outstanding warrant and for having a firearm.
"Just because somebody shoots somebody else doesn't mean they are a suspect," said Tulsa Police Captain Steve Odom.
Something that added to the tension in the neighborhood Sunday.
"It's just weird cause somebody just died. And it's kind of scary," said a neighboring north Tulsa resident.
FOX23 dug into records and found Simon is a convicted felon.
Detectives told FOX23 that Lyke was no stranger to the police department either.
They say he witnessed a murder in February of last year where police say Lyke shot and killed a man in June 2012.
A shooting that was still under investigation.
