A 6-year-old child was outside playing when he was hit by an Oklahoma Natural Gas truck Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred in the 18700 block of E. 49th St. at approximately 11 a.m.

Tulsa Police officers said the child was riding on his Crazy Cart toy down the driveway when he was hit. The driver of the ONG truck told officers he was looking at addresses to find a house and didn't see the child.

A witness told FOX23 News that the child was outside playing on a Christmas present he'd received when he was struck by the ONG truck.

Police told FOX23 that an SUV was parked in the driveway and blocked the boy and the driver's view.

The child's parents told FOX23 that the child was able to walk away from the accident, but was transferred to a Tulsa area hospital.

The helmet the child was wearing apparently saved his life, the witness said.

With all the technological advances that we have in mapping there really is no need for that ONG driver to have to look for an address. Just put it in google map street view and google will tell you when you get there.

I guess mom must be tired of him. I have a dog that is seven years old and every time he goes outside I am with him. Too bad that parents(?) don't pay as much attention to children as a dog.
