The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating a trooper- involved shooting.
It happened shortly after noon on the Indian Nation Turnpike near the town of Antlers.
Capt. George Brown says a pursuit began after a trooper spotted a stolen vehicle near Highway 3. The pursuit then moved to the turnpike. The trooper used a tactical vehicle intervention, spinning the car into a near by convenience store.
Brown says the driver then exited the vehicle with a rifle and pointed it at the trooper. The trooper fired five rounds.
Brown says the suspect was hit once in the scalp and once in the hand. He was placed in custody and transported to a Tulsa area hospital.
Once the suspect is released, Brown says he will be taken to the Pushmataha County jail.
The name of the suspect and the trooper are not being released at this time.
