State Troopers will conduct a DUI enforcement special emphasis in Tulsa County the weekend of the 16th.

Eighteen troopers will participate in this DUI crackdown which is being held in support of the national anti-impaired driving campaign entitled, "Drive Sober or get Pulled Over" which runs August 16th through September 2nd.

"We will target suspected DUI drivers and aggressively enforce Oklahoma drug and alcohol laws, but we won't stop there. Troopers are going to look beyond the traffic stop in an attempt to suppress any criminal act and/or highway crime. Nationally, there are many instances of human trafficking, kidnapping, violent crimes and even terrorist type activity all of which have one thing in common, the perpetrators use highways and the federal interstate system to travel. We are dedicated to protecting Oklahomans and we'll use this crackdown as an opportunity to insure safety for everyone,” said OHP Captain George Brown.

The DUI crackdown will begin with an operational briefing at Troop B headquarters at 7:00 PM and end at approximately 3:00 AM Saturday morning.

Why does it take a federal grant to pay the overtime for cops to do what they should be doing the other 51 weeks out of the year? And how do DUI roadblocks spot terrorism? Sure hate it when these bureaucrats think were that stupid.
