It's one of the most well-known retail stores: Sam's Club is set to open this week in Owasso.
However, FOX23 has learned the store isn't just bringing good buys into the city, it's also bringing a change to Owasso.
People in Owasso are thrilled. In just a few days their Sam's Club will open.
"You can get stuff in bulk and don't have to go back once a week like I do now," one shopper told FOX23.
Furthermore, the city says it paves the way for economic boosts.
"Perhaps for the first time, people in northeast Oklahoma will discover Owasso," Chamber of Commerce President Gary Akin said.
He's convinced the store will help Owasso become a destination for shoppers from even 100 miles away.
"People will come from I'll say Independence, Kan., from Pawhuska, Hominy, Bartlesville," he told FOX23.
The store is also acting as a catalyst for other businesses wanting to build on the property. Some of that construction has already begun.
Shoppers will be able to hit these and other stores in the city as well.
Akin said this could increase tax revenue by several million dollars per year.
On top of that, the store has already created nearly 200 new jobs.
Tanecia Davis is ecstatic about working for the company.
"I was in between jobs, looking for work. It's kind of hard with the way the economy is right now. They had many opportunities open."
FOX23 caught up with Davis at a fall festival the retailer hosted Sunday.
Kids came for the candy and costume contest.
Akin explained the gesture is just one more way he knows the new store is a "win-win" for the city.
"They won't just open a store here," he said. "They will become part of the community, and they've already done so."
The store will host a soft opening Wednesday from 5:00-8:30 p.m., and the grand opening is set for Thursday at 8:00 a.m.
