You don't have to wait until Valentine's Day to start showing your love this year. Pour your affection on a local charity that rescues abandoned cats.
The 12th Annual "My Furry Valentine" to benefit StreetCats is held this Sunday February 12, 2012 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Tulsa Historical Society.
"The annual event brings cat lovers together to enjoy samplings of premier desserts including cheesecake, bread pudding, pies, cakes, and cookies from some of Tulsa’s finest restaurants," Event Organizer Linda Holland said. "Guests can sip a cup of gourmet coffee or enjoy a glass of punch or wine, while bidding on an assortment of gift baskets and other items presented for the silent auction." The items consist of food, fragrances, flowers, sports items and more.
Music will be provided by pianist Ann Southerland Canode.
About StreetCats:• StreetCats, Inc. is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization whose purpose is to shelter cats that have been abandoned or lost and to find new homes for them.
• We do not place a time limit on a healthy cat’s life, but we keep them until a home is found.
• StreetCats' Adoption Center at 60th and Sheridan provides a clean, healthy environment for the cats with all on-going medical care, including sterilization, vaccinations, and testing prior to adoption.
• Donations also help maintain an aggressive spay/neuter voucher program called “A Stitch In Time” for “un-owned” cats. Our joint effort with eight local veterinarians lets us issue 75 vouchers per month to help reduce the cat population on the streets of the Tulsa area.
• StreetCats' Gift Boutique at the Adoption Center helps fund the organization.
• StreetCats, Inc. receives no public funding but relies solely on donations. Since ours is an entirely volunteer staff, all monies received are applied directly to the care of the cats.
Adoption is $75 with a discount for adopting two cats or if adopter is 65 or older.
Spay/Neuter vouchers for our contracted vets are $20.00 and can be reserved by contacting StreetCats.
