The Oklahoma Highway Patrol released the name of a man shot by a trooper and the name of the trooper.

Kermit Lee Farrish was taken into custody Tuesday morning after being shot by trooper Shiloh Hall in east Tulsa.

It happened around 1:00am at I-44 and 11th street.

Troopers said they pulled over a car, and Farrish became violent and reached for the trooper's gun. Hall shot Farrish during the struggle.

Troopers said Farrish then got back into his car and drove to a motel at 11th and Garnett, where people there called 911.  Farrish had a gunshot wound to an extremity and is now in the Tulsa County Jail on felony assault and battery on a peace officer charges.

A passenger in the car ran away, and is still at large. Hall is on paid administrative leave until the investigation wraps up.

This trooper is a liar I personally have been severly beaten up by this man, and on top of that then he lied and made up nine charges two of them were felonies this is the 2nd time this man has been put on administrative leave for shooting someone, once before in may of 2010!! my deal was swept under the rug by the DA!! and I was charged and now on probation for getting beaten up! what? this man is a disgrace to the troopers that are out there that do there job correctly, he even testified and lied on the witness stand the last time I checked this is perjury which is a felony right? I know if I were to have beaten him up as bad as he beat me up I would be in prison! what does he have to do kill someone before he gets fired wtf, who polices the police ?????

Unwashed mass (aka dirty sermon.) You ain't got NO reading retention. The news reported that the criminal got back into the car. You make it awkward with your bad memory.

OTOH, a person sitting in a car reaching for a troopers gun sounds very awkward, unless some details have been left out.

"became violent and reached for the trooper's gun" is a stock phrase that has been in use a lot. If it actually happened, the dashcam video should prove it, and you would think OHP would be anxious to make it public and put the question to rest.

Unwashed mass : Your dirty sermon about grabbing a shooters gun is valid if you think you are going to be a victim. What's that got to do with this story??

As long as a person doesn't resist arrest or threaten the cop and doesn't go for the police gun he should be safe enough. The LAST thing I would be thinking is "grab the police gun". LOL LOL LOL (grab the police gun - really?)

Now that the courts ruled police dashcam is public record, it should be easy to see what happened. Play the video.

If I thought someone was about to shoot me, my instinct would be to stop him, and if it meant grabbing his gun to save my life, I would opt to not be a victim.
