Troopers are searching Lake Eufaula for a man who disappeared in a violent boating accident on Thursday night.

Troopers said one boat slammed into two parked boats around 10 p.m.

The crash inured at least two children, and when the debris cleared, 55-year-old Gary McIninch was missing.

Troopers have been on the lake searching for 20 hours, looking for McIninch.

Troopers told FOX23 they are searching the area where he went overboard and are hitting what they called “hot spots” underneath the water.

Rick Turner lives on Lake Eufaula. He told FOX23 he saw the pontoon boat that troopers say McIninch was standing on Thursday night hauled to the dock at Eufaula Cove.

"It was all crushed, the aluminum, not in good shape," he said.

OHP said the boat was docked next to another boat when a third boat hit both of them and then took off.

A 6- and 7-year old had to be flown to the hospital as troopers searched for McIninch, who was thrown overboard in the crash.

"It's always bad when you get a death or injury on this lake; it's just not good for anyone," said OHP Trooper Danny Choate.

OHP Marine Enforcement troopers used a sonar system on Friday to search for McIninch in the last area he was seen.

"The main idea is to get this missing subject up for the family," said Choate.

The sonar scans the bottom of the lake, about 60 feet below, looking for changes in color.

"If we could a good hit, it will make an outline of the body itself," said Choate.

He said they've marked four places where the sonar has picked up a big change in color. Troopers use more advanced sonar to look more closely into those spots.

They told FOX23 they have not found McIninch. The two kids are recovering and expected to be OK.

The boat that left the scene is described as a white and dark color ski boat approximately 20-feet long with significant damage to the front.
