The Creek County Sheriff's Office says one person has died after an explosion and fire at an oil field tank battery south of Bristow.

That man has been identified as Kyle Polkingham.  John Ellis was injured and is being treated in ICU.

Deputies said two men were working on an oil tank battery transferring oil from one tank to another because of issues with the original tank that needed to be repaired. Investigators are still working to determine what caused the explosion.

"The smoke went high in the air," said Creek County Deputy Daniel Brashear. "I could see it from the Shamrock
area."

He told FOX23's Dontaye Carter he rushed to the scene after seeing the smoke fill the air.

"I didn't know what to expect," he said. "Sometimes
we don't know what to expect until we get here."

FOX23 cameras had the only cameras recording as Brashear and a medical examiner left the scene. They had just removed the body of the man who
died. He said the two men were repairing an oil tank battery that was leaking when it exploded.

"There were two explosions but the first one it was loud, like I said it shook my house,"
said Kay Mason, who owns the property the oil tanks are on.

"I thought, "Man
what is that?' I knew the guys were out here working I just didn't think anything would explode," she said.

Deputies say they're not releasing the name of the men or the company they work for at this time.
Crews are waiting for OSHA to continue the investigation. The medical examiner and life flight are also on scene.
