A west Tulsa man is charged with shocking a five-year-old boy with a stun gun multiple times and beating him with a board.
Court records show Phillip Hudson Jr. is charged with three counts of child abuse by injury that happened last week on February 19
th and February 21
st.
Tulsa Police Child Crisis Detectives say Hudson is the ex-boyfriend of the child’s mother and was babysitting the child.
FOX23 went to the listed address for Hudson and when a man answered the door he shut it immediately.
Jail records show Hudson is in jail.
The man at the door eventually opened up the door again but only a crack.
"It's overkill,” said the man at the door.
Police say there were more than 20 burn marks on the child and the five-year-old was beaten with a board from a door.
"I said he made a stupid decision but it was a disciplinary act. He didn’t take the kid out in the snow, there wasn’t that much drama involved. Like I said it was disciplinary act it was a bad decision,”
said the man.
Police say it was good work by employees at Eugene Field Elementary school.
Investigators say when a worker saw the bruises on the child’s arms they alerted police who found the burn marks on the child.
State law requires school employees to report abuse to DHS and police. It’s a
misdemeanor crime if you fail to report child abuse in Oklahoma. It’s a
felony if a parent or caretaker enables the abuse.
"It's not a stun gun it was a novelty item and he made a stupid decision and it was bad move and stupid decision,” said the man.
FOX23 attempted to contact the alleged victim’s parent but no one answered the door.
Records show scheduled bond amounts for child abuse by injury is a minimum $50,000. The judge increased each count to $100,000. Hudson’s bond has been set at $300,000. In most cases you have to post 10% of the bond so he could post $30,000 to bond out of jail.
