The Russian community in the Tulsa-area wants others to know they do not condone the Boston bombings.

As FOX23 News reported, both suspects are from Russia. On Friday afternoon, members of the Holy Apostles Orthodox Christian Church gathered to pray for the souls of the people who died.

During times of chaos and heartache, Father Ambrose Arrington often gets asked the question, why. As he works to give an answer, questions arise in his own heart about the recent events in and around Boston.

"How could human beings take the lives of other human beings and think of it as a good thing,” he asks.

FOX23 asked him what he thinks the motive was for the Boston bombings. He says that he and some members of his congregation believe religion could have been a contributing factor, and he has a theory about that.

"They believed that they were doing it righteously. The fact that this tragedy took place in Boston just this past week gives us additional things to pray for,” he says.

At the Holy Apostles Orthodox Christian Church members gathered together at noon on Friday to pray for the souls of the people who died and that they would have glory and eternal life.

With 25 of the members of this church being from the Russian community, Father Arrington does not want the actions of the Chechnya born bombing suspects blamed on Russia as a whole.

"It is damaging them to them and I think it hurts the Russian people whenever they feel that they are being unfairly lumped in with people from these other areas,” says Father Arrington.
