Shoppers and those who work here at Utica Square tell me this event is what kicks off the holiday season.

Right now it just looks normal, but by Thursday evening more than 700,000 lights will light up 175 trees.

Thanksgiving is coming in only a few days, and after dinner has settled it's going to look a lot like Christmas at Utica Square.

The annual lights on ceremony will take place Thursday night.

FOX23 spoke with people who work in the Utica Square shops.

Alayna Doiorn who works at The Loft spoke with us about the ceremony Thursday.

She says it's a Tulsa tradition you don't want to miss.
"It's kind of like a big count down like New Year's Eve, except it's to kick start the holiday season.

It may look pretty quiet right now, but workers and shoppers tell me that in just a matter of days, this place will be lit up with Christmas lights and filled with people who are excited about the holiday season.

Liz Kelly shops at Utica Square and says she enjoys the ceremony because it's not all about the shopping.
"It's about getting a cup of coffee, maybe seeing Santa and spending time with family and friends and working off the Thanksgiving calories.

The holiday season is really about giving and that's why people come, so it's a good time for all.

Lights on at Utica Square is Thanksgiving Day at 6:30 p.m. People tell me it's a Tulsa tradition the whole family can enjoy.
