Yea I hope he doesn't loose his license either. But I guess on the flip side they need to be very strict on a loaded gun being properly secured for everyone's safety. I think after my review he will be fine as far as the sign(as I said here in Kansas that alone would cause his license to be revoked if mounted properly here) But I do understand if something comes of negligence of his part for not having it properly secured to keep him or others from being accidentally harmed or himself. I to would like to know how this turns out. But probably won't read any more about it.

Thanks for the clarification. I am also new to Oklahoma (2 years) from Texas. Texas is very clear about their signs, and there is no way to enter a business without passing one if the business owner has posted them properly - like Kansas. However here in Oklahoma they're pretty inconsistent about posting them at all entrances or where the can be readily seen. I've just ignored them so far, but now with all the publicity about open carry, I want to make sure I'm not going to cause trouble for myself. That's why I'm interested in what eventually happens with this particular incident. I'm not real sure why they're even doing a review, unless it's just because it wasn't properly holstered. I'm all for proper gun handling and would agree with them if that was the case. I don't think his license to defend himself should be revoked for a first time offense, however.

This was my bad. I live in Kansas and have my license and know Oklahoma excepts it. So assumed the law was the same. But in Kansas it is against the law to carry in a signage posted place. The sign has to be a certain size and posted at eye level and a a certain distance from the edge of the door. We have a Walgreen's here in town and they printed off a sign on paper and stuck it at the bottom of the door with a lot of advertisement. I just ignore it and carry in there. Its obvious its not properly posted so therefor I'm not breaking any laws. As a matter of fact I didn't even notice it for a long time because of its location.

I stand corrected. After further research I find that as has been said there is not a specific law in Oklahoma prohibiting carring a gun into a place that has a no gun sign if you have your license. But if asked to leave and you don't then you would be liable to prosecution.

". I'm glad for the big sign on our doors." Bet it's the same sign that they use at schools & movie theaters. You know, the ones that are designated "Gun Free Zones". The zones that criminals love to do mass shootings at because they know no one there can stop them until they run out of ammo.

Yes if there is a sign you are breaking the law license or not. It may not be to the extinct of someone without a license at all. But you most likely will loose your license as sowells said. Those signs there don't mean its still ok to carry concealed in there if you have a license and if caught they can only ask you to leave. Read the conceal carry laws. It says its ILLEGAL to carry into a place that has a sign posted. That would mean you are breaking the law. unwashed mass if you have your license try it and make sure you let them know you have a gun when you get inside and let us know what happens next. Your saying the sign just means to make sure they don't know you have the gun in there. And if caught no big deal. They will just ask you to leave. Wrong!!

I'll be interested to see how this turns out. I've wondered about the gunbuster signs since I moved here, but haven't found any cases that have been tried, and the statutes say nothing either way. It would be a little silly in some cases (Woodland Hills mall, for instance) to penalize someone for carrying in a place where there may not have been a sign at all at the entrance they chose to enter. The fact that the man wasn't charged with anything supports what most CCers believe - the signs are meaningless, other than it gives the gunophobes the idea that they are safe from the bad guys. Scarlet - do you think that someone intent on going on a killing spree in the hospital where you work would be stopped by the "no gun" sign?

Yes if they have a no gun sign on the door no matter where you go you are not allowed to bring it in and if you do and get caught you can lose you concealed carry permit by Oklahoma conceal carry laws

A no-gun sign on the door doesnt have the force of law, so they can only ask you to leave if you are carrying. It is not against the law to carry in a hospital, signs or not.
