Joshua Schneider faces a first degree murder charge for the death of Northeastern State University professor.
Schneider was taken into custody near 91st and Highway 169 in Tulsa Saturday afternoon.
According to Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Jessica Brown, Schneider's girlfriend, Heather Black, turned herself in to authorities shortly before Schneider was apprehended.
Schneider and his girlfriend, Heather Black, ran from police in Tulsa when agents attempted to serve felony warrants for his arrest more than a week ago.
Police said they left Schneider’s two-year-old daughter inside the car as they fled the area on foot. The warrants included false declaration of ownership in pawn and failure to register as a sex offender.
Investigators tracked them to a campsite in Wagoner County before finding them both in south Tulsa on Saturday.
Schneider is charged in the death of Tiffany Maher. She was found dead on May 31st. According to Tahlequah Police, Maher's body was found inside her home by an NSU police officer.
The OSBI said on Monday they are grateful for the hard work from the Tulsa Police Department, Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office, Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office, the Multi Jurisdiction Fugitive Task Force, ATF, and the Hillcrest Hospital South Security staff.
