Hundreds of Oklahoma firefighters will go to Oklahoma City on Monday, March 18th for the third annual “Firefighter Day at the Capitol”.
Area firefighters will take charter buses from Tulsa to the capitol for a 9 a.m. rally.
President of
Tulsa Firefighters Local 176, Chad Miller, tells FOX23 the firefighters are exercising their rights to participate in the legislative process.
“We are there to lobby all of the issues that could be affecting firefighters or their families,” said Miller.
Miller says that firefighters will show their objection to consolidating state pension plans in addition to addressing workers compensation.
“This year pensions is definitely a big issue,” said Miller.
Miller says that he anticipates about 500 Oklahoma firefighters will attend the rally.
Miller will meet with Oklahoma elected officials in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday to discuss some of the same issues that will be discussed in Oklahoma City.
