Fire destroyed a north Tulsa home on Tuesday afternoon.

The first started around 1 p.m. near Quincy Street and East Admiral.

Firefighters were concerned high winds could cause the fire to spread, but got the flames under control before that could happen.

Five people lived in the home when the fire started. Firefighters said the family tried putting out the fire themselves until firefighters arrived.

Investigators have not determined what caused the fire. Firefighters surveyed the area to make sure any small hot spots were put out to prevent the fire from spreading.

The Red Cross helped the family find a place to stay.
