Not answering the door for thieves put one father face-to-face with home burglars.
A South Tulsa father chased intruders out of his home and the only weapon he could grab was a golf club.
"I turned around and all I heard was "go, go go,” said Anthony.
For his safety he didn’t want release his full name.
The thieves got away with his stuff but not for long.
Tulsa Police chased the suspects through South Tulsa and Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers say they picked up the chase on the Creek Turnpike on Monday.
Troopers say they were traveling faster than 100 miles an hour and soon was stopped using a tactical maneuver.
They arrested John Wesley Brown, 23, and Amber Dawn Howard, 24.
Tulsa police burglary detectives believe they pair and another woman who got away are serial thieves and possibly purses snatcher.
The home break-in happened around 2:30 p.m. on Monday in a neighborhood near 61st and S. Yale.
The father thought it may be Fed Ex at the door or a mother picking up Girl Scout cookies from his daughter.
However, he wasn’t expecting anyone so he didn’t answer the door.
"Someone is knocking on the door like they need to get in,” said Anthony.
He was still up in his room and when he heard the familiar creak in his stairs he grabbed his golf club.
"I don't want to say I am being a scardy cat. When I was upstairs I didn't want it to be someone else when I turned the corner I wanted to be my dad or a friendly face,” said the father.
Instead, he said it was three suspects loaded with his stuff.
"All they said was "go, go, go,” said Anthony.
He chased them down the stairs and tried to fight the man off with the golf club but the thief threw a laptop at his face.
Anthony says that is when he swung the golf club.
"It was only a one swing club because when that happened the club fell off and I was like ohhh,” said Anthony. “It's like having a gun with no bullets."
So the father tried to poke the thief by lunging at him with a broken golf club.
"After this broke off. I scream 911. Police 911. I just didn't know what to say,” said Anthony.
As the thieves took off he tried to break the windshield by throwing a rock at the Grand Am.
After a high speed chase through South Tulsa, OHP took over in Rogers County and stopped the thieves who tried to take off on foot.
"I am still a little bit rattled about it,” says the father.
Anthony said he showed up at the scene was identified the thieves who broke into his home.
He also found his stolen loot and believes the thieves had other victims stolen loot.
"People who steal for a living it's pathetic,” says Anthony.
A day later, Anthony had nothing but praise for Tulsa police and OHP troopers.
Police say although it worked out for the victim in this case they recommend you keep your distance from a thief and not to put a fight.
Anthony warns other homeowners who have storage containers in their driveway.
He had a POD in his driveway and believes that may be reason he was targeted.
Burglary detectives believe Brown and Howard and the outstanding female suspect are connected to other break-ins and possible purse snatchings.
Police are still looking for the other woman who broke into Anthony’s home. If you have any information about these suspected thieves call Crime Stoppers at (918) 596-COPS (2677) or text a tip to “CRIMES” (274637) and begin your message with “TIP918” or you can submit a tip online at
