South Tulsa --
Tulsa police have confirmed 23-year-old twins Rebeika Powell and Kayetie Melchor along with 33-year-old Misty Nunley and 55 year old, Julie Jackson where shot and killed in a brutal attack at the Fairmont Terrace apartment complex on Monday afternoon. They leave behind broken-hearted families.
Larry Powell is determined not to let his twin daughters die in vain.
He spent the day out at Fairmont Terrace questioning residents trying to find out any information on his daughter’s killer.
“I’m just pleading with anybody to come forward and if you see something just come forward, that’s all I’m asking you to do,” says Powell.
This isn’t the first time Larry has lost a child.
“I just lost my handicap son. He was 20 and had the flu back in 2003 and now I just don’t know what to do,” says Powell.
His twin daughters, Rebeika Powell and Kayetie Melchor were 23 years old and had celebrated their birthday back in October. The two girls went to Kellyville High School. Kayetie was in FFA, while Rebeika played on the basketball team.
His daughers, along with Misty Nunley and Julie Jackson were shot and killed inside an apartment on Monday afternoon. Rebeika’s three year old son was left alone in the apartment with the bodies. Police are still searching for answers.
“He is just a sweet, little tough, little guy you know and he’s a smart little guy too and there’s nothing he ain’t going to remember,” he says.
Kayetie also leaves behind a young daughter.
For a man who has lost so much, he is leaning on his other family members to help him get through the pain.
“It seems like the world is falling down on him right now, and he just needs a lot of love and support.”
A fund has been set up at both Arvest and RCB Banks to help the Powell families with their double funeral costs. Fairmont Terrace is also collecting donations for the two children who lost their mothers. You can take them by the complex at 61st & Peoria during business hours.
