Evidence filled white plastic bags taken from a murder suspect's home in Sand Springs.
FOX23 News was the only crew on the scene as Osage County sheriff’s investigators executed a search warrant at Robert Connor's home.
Connor is accused of shooting and killing his mother, Debi Connor, in Sand Springs Tuesday night and taking his 6-year-old son Decklan on the run launching an Amber Alert.
Less than 10 hours after the shooting, Connor and his son were found safe in a motel room in Lewisville, Texas. Connor surrendered without a fight.
Investigators tell FOX23 News they found evidence inside Connor's home in the 1000 block of Washington Avenue in Sand Springs that connects him to the murder and the escape to Texas. They did not elaborate on what evidence they found.
The man accused of killing his mother and taking his 6-year-old son on the run was also a teacher in Green Country.
Authorities and family tell FOX23 News Connor has a history with mental illness and was not taking his medications.
He was also a teacher at Glenpool High School in the 2012-2013 school year. The school superintendent says he was on contract and taught Spanish and financial literature in the ninth through 12th grades.
"People were talking about it at school. I didn't believe it at first," said sophomore Zoey Bird.
His parents gave him permission to talk to FOX23 News. Bird says he had Connor for financial literature and he was a nice teacher.
"I didn't think he would do that. He wasn't that kind of guy," said Bird.
He said he was looking forward to having Mr. Connor for Spanish this year but his schedule changed at the last minute.
The spokesperson for the Oklahoma State Board of Education says Connor received his teaching certificate in 2011 and it would expire in 2016. The certificate was in Spanish and English as a second language and he previously taught in Duncanville, Texas.
Sand Springs police, Osage County sheriff’s deputies and the Glenpool school superintendent say they did not have problems or calls for service involving Connor prior to Tuesday's killing.
Officials with the State Board of Education say they will review Connor's teaching certificate for possible revocation.
Decklan was in DHS custody but family members tell FOX23 News he is now with family in the Tulsa area where he is safe.
Connor is in a Texas jail awaiting extradition to Osage County.
