Sand Springs police say a man has died after an accident in the northbound lanes of Highway 97.
Police say John Maurice Perry was driving near the River Bridge at 2500 S. Highway 97 in the northbound lanes when the hood of his car flew up. He stopped to secure the hood and a second driver pulled behind him to assist. Police say a third driver did not see the stopped cars and hit the 2nd car, causing that car to hit Perry, who later died of his injuries.
A pregnant woman in the 2nd car was taken to the hospital as a precaution. Both northbound lanes were closed to clear the wreck, one lane was re-opened just before 5pm on Wednesday.
Authorities say Perry's two grandsons were with him in the car, but they were not hurt.
