Tulsa police are searching for a shooting with intent to kill suspect after standing outside the home where he allegedly shot at his father for eight hours
The incident happened at 2:30 on Sunday morning when the suspect’s father called police and reported he was arguing with his 29-year-old son, Jordan Watt, and Watt pulled out a gun and shot two rounds into an interior wall of his house near East 66th and Harvard.
Tulsa Police Public Information Officer Leland Ashley was on the scene all morning with the other 60 law enforcement agencies including Tulsa Fire and the SWAT team. He said police made contact with Watt over the phone before they arrived at the house where officers were told Watt was inside. When police arrived they said they saw the garage door shutting with car lights on inside.
“We are treating this call as a shooting with intent to kill,” said Officer Ashley.
Officers tried baiting Watt out using loud speakers and then just before 7:00 a.m. they threw tear gas grenades into the home breaking the glass windows. This happened after a mother and three-month-old son came out of the home unharmed.
“The mother and three month old were inside that is why we could not rush in and caused anyone harm that’s why we take our time,” said Officer Ashley.
Officers cleared the home by 10:00 a.m. and announced no one was inside. Officer Ashley said there were a few minutes before they arrived after they spoke with Watt on the phone that he could have escaped out the back door of his father’s home.
“We are still actively searching for the individual at this time,” said Officer Ashley.
