People are very misinformed about this violent breed of animal,one idiot thought nobody had ever fought them until Michael Vick was caught,another thinks they are nanny dogs,people should have to take a test and pay a $5000 fee to own one to help offset the billions in medical care,permanent scarring and permanent disabilties,and deaths they cause ,in reality the breed should be outlawed rounded up and exterminated

Little Rascals dog was a bull terrier,big difference pit bulls are not nanny dog what ever the hell that is they are a viscious breed bred to fight thats why they call them pit bulls they fight in pits,through breeding the have developed jaws more powerfull than a lions,these dogs are responsible for the majority of fatal attacks on children,bottom line if you own one of these viscious animals you should have to pay a very high insurance rate because one of them attacks any of my family I'm gonna own your home and do my best to ruin your life,no excuse to to have an animal like this,why don't you get a pet hyena or a jackal that ought to make you feel manly

@djbaps my child was bit by a dog...a chow, when he was 3. So yeah, I've had that experience. BUT if I had known that the dog was tempermental and had attacked before then I wouldn't have let my child near it. That's called common sense. The dogs that are most prone to aggressive behavior are little ankle biters - look it up. Back in the day, pits were nanny dogs and firefighter dogs. Again, look it up. Watch Little Rascales, the old tv show. And I stick by what I said. If you knew the dog was a biter then you should have kept your child away from it, whether it was a german shephard, a pit or a chihuahua. That's called being a parent.

What about breeding do some of you not understand?Pointers do not need anyone to teach them to point...instinct bred into them for many generations,just like pit pulls with their powerfull jaws and go for the kill instinct...they were bred to fight...in pits get it?Children are their number one victims because the children are about the same height,they were bred to attack,fight and not give up until the end.Have seen the results of these attacks and seen one of the fights all these enough for this Dumb Indian.I am sure miss smith and cindywholou love their pit bulls.I once had a pet rattlesnake,I loved it and it loved me,but I wouldn't turn my back on it...suggest y'all do the same with these pit bulls

I feel bad for the child, but it appears he should have known to stay away from the fence. Not all dogs get along with other dogs. And to bash an entire breed of dogs because of what some do is just as bad as bashing all men because some are abusive.

First, I hope this poor child makes as much of a healthy recovery as possible. This will follow him throughout his life. To those losing focus of the story and blaming a dog who is a German Sheppard mix with Pit Bull on the breed, that is the same stereotypical mentality that racism is made of, judging all for the acts of some. There are some socioeconomical factors that come in to play with the raising of some of the animals. Take all your energy spent complaining and blaming the entire breed and focus it on something positive, then and only then you may have an educated post worth reading.
