The Pawnee Public School Superintendent will decide on Friday if a suspended basketball coach will lose their job.
The district told FOX23 on Wednesday a girls basketball coach was suspended, the district initially identified the coach but later retracted that information.
FOX23’s Janai Norman went to the home of basketball coach Jeff Tatum and he confirmed to her he has been suspended. Tatum told FOX23 he’s still employed by the district but has not heard from school officials yet.
Tatum said he’s been quote, ‘out of the loop.’
Karen Long, an attorney for the school district, says Superintendent Ned Williams will decide if Tatum will be reinstated or recommended for dismissal.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says they are looking into alleged sexual misconduct between a Pawnee High School teacher and a student. No names have been released.
When FOX23 asked Tatum if he was the subject of that investigation he did not confirm or deny, only said he was advised not to comment.
Long says the Superintendent will ultimately make the decision and Tatum will be notified.
