Crickets are clinging to Green Country homes and businesses.

From Tulsa, to Muskogee, Okmulgee to Broken Arrow, FOX23 News viewers have sent in pictures and videos of swarms of crickets.

Frances Heard tells FOX23 she’s seen something like this before, a bug invasion at home.

“There was one of my bedroom curtain, I just walked by there, I seen it setting there, I said ‘Oh lord,’ Heard began. “I just walked on by, didn’t pay any attention to it, all of a sudden it hit me in the neck.”

And now that the crickets are popping up around Green Country, Heard says she’s afraid of deja vu.

“I’m afraid they’re going to jump all over me,” she said. “I don’t want to do a repeat of what I did in Reasor’s. I almost took my blouse off because one got on my neck and I was trying to get it off. I’m telling you the poor man behind me, it scared him.”

While looking for the worst of the problem, we found a man using a lead blower to clear out the swarms at a shopping center near 71st and Lynn Lane in Broken Arrow.

“Even as he’s blowing them away, you can see them crawling back,” Debbie Howard observed. “That is nasty.”

FOX23’s Janai Norman called local exterminators to find out why we’re seeing so many crickets.

One exterminator tells Norman rain plus cooler temperatures are the perfect combination for the bugs. He says it could get worse this month, but the bugs should be gone soon.

“It’s overwhelming, there’s so many.”
