A couple in East Tulsa got a rude awakening this morning when an SUV crashed into their bedroom.

It happened around 2 AM near 21st and Memorial.

Police say both the driver and passenger had been drinking and were on their way home from the bar.

The sergeant also says the driver admitted that she was talking to the passenger, and not paying attention, when she ran off the road, hit a mailbox, a pole, and then crashed right into a house.

When FOX23 first got on the scene, the front end was inside the couple's bedroom and bricks, metal, and rubber were thrown all over the yard.

There's now a big hole in the side of the house, along with a crack all the way to the roof. but firefighters say there's no severe structural damage.

The sergeant says both the man and his wife were lying in bed when the Jeep came crashing through the house.

The man was taken to the hospital with internal injuries, but he's expected to be ok.

His wife was not hurt, and neither were the driver or passenger.

After running off the road, the SUV went at least another hundred feet before crasing into the house.

Police say she was going around 35 or 40 miles an hour, and, had she been going faster, the damage and this situation could be a whole lot worse.

Officers arrested Ashley Hill on suspicion of DUI and she was booked into Tulsa County Jail on one count of Aggravated DUI.

She shouldn't be allowed to work at a bar anymore either. No telling how many others she has served past the decent level of public sobriety.

Poor drunk idiots. Luckily nobody was killed. I'd say justice would be more properly served if that driver was not allowed to ever drive again :-)
