The Tulsa City Council is hosting a public hearing to answer questions about the upcoming trash hauling contract on Wednesday.
Councilors are scheduled to make a decision on whether to allow the Tulsa Public Facilities Authority to fund the purchase of solid residential waste carts costing up to $14.5 million on Thursday.
TARE requested the Council approve the purchase of the carts so TARE could award the contract to a company that did not include the option of providing carts in its bid. The City Council postponed their original vote to collect more feedback from the citizens.
"While the Council will not have a say in the final trash contract, we do have the ability to get answers for our constituents on the facts related to the proposal," said Council chairman G.T. Bynum. "Tulsans deserve unbiased information on their trash service.”
Councilor Bynum added if citizens have questions about anything related to the upcoming change in the trash contract, they should send them prior to the meeting and councilors will prepare to answer them on Wednesday night. Citizens can send questions to abrown@tulsacouncil.org.
The meeting will be Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of One Technology Center; 175 E. 2nd St.
The meeting will be broadcast live on TGOV, Cox digital cable channel 24.1 and will stream live at
