A Claremore officer is being credited for saving a 9-day-old baby's life.

Our FOX23 crew spoke exclusively with the officer and the mother.

FOX23 went to the Claremore Police Department to find out how the events unfolded.

Three days ago the mom of 9-day-old Mariana told FOX23 the baby was just taking a nap

But then something went wrong and she wasn't breathing.

That's when this Claremore police officer sprung into action.

Mariana is 12 days old now but when she was only 9days old she gave her family and police quite the scare.

"I thought she was dying to be honest," Mariana’s mother, Heather Harmon said.

Mariana had reflux, but her mom said she had no idea at the time.

"I’ve seen babies kind of choke on their formula but once you turn them on their side and pat their back it stops," Harmon said.

She says all she knew is her baby was not breathing so she called 911.

Officer Jordan Holland was the first to arrive at the apartment.

"She was just limp. And it was an indescribable feeling," Holland said.

Holland gave Mariana CPR and that’s when she started breathing again.

"It's just amazing they could get here fast enough and you know, help her," Harmon said.

"I think everything just fell into place perfectly. It worked out great," Holland said.

Holland was honored today at the Claremore Police Department.

The police chief told him his actions demonstrated what the department wants residents to know – that it's their mission to make sure everyone in their city is safe.
