Guns, tools and even cars seized from drug bust are now up for auction in Cherokee County.
Deputies tell me they've seized 75 guns from alleged drug dealers and robbers. The guns off the street now deputies hope they can benefit from the lawbreakers' lost.
"Crime doesn't pay," said Cherokee County Undersherifff Jason Chennault.
He told FOX23's Dontaye Carter he's hoping to cash in after cleaning up the streets.
"This property has been seized and forfeited through drug deals, from stolen property that hasn't been claimed," he said.
Everything from power tools on the shelf to guns, sword and even a Harley-Davidson motorcycle going up for auction this Saturday.
"It comes from the work we do. Its proceeds from drug dealers, thieves and criminals," Chennault said.
Deputies seized a 1996 red Corvette after they busted a theft ring that nearly stretched across three states.
"It is money the county doesn't have to generate to put in our budget," he said.
The money raised will go toward training and equipment.
The auction will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday but will open up for everyone to look around beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Tahlequah Community Building.
