Casino valet gives thieves car

Car thieves targeted a Hard Rock guest at the casino's valet in Catoosa.

The Cherokee Marshals are investigating the case where a customer reported thieves found a lost ticket and stole a car.

Bryan Bennett told FOX23 News he spent an hour gambling at the Hard Rock and when he went to leave, he couldn't find his valet ticket.

"Obviously I dropped my ticket. I always put it in my left pocket; it's not there," said Bennett.

Neither was his white Buick Le Sabre.

"They said they had given it out about 10 minutes after I got there," said Bennett.

He is a frequent customer and believes a thief found his ticket and claimed his car.

"I'm like, ‘”What? You have given my car to someone else? You guys know me,'" said Bennett.

Four hours later, he and his wife remembered their car can be tracked.

"We have OnStar, just call OnStar," said Bennett.

The company traced the car to a spot about 1.5 miles from the casino and parked under a carport.

The home was vacant and had a for-sale sign in the lawn. The car was trashed.

"I see this immediately the trim that is pulled down right here," said Bennett. "I see the rearview mirror in the seat, I see the wires pulled down from the ceiling.

He said there was garbage on the floor and it reeked of cigarette smoke.

"The windshield cracked, the dash cracked,” said Bennett.

The owner of the car estimates he'll have to pay $4,000 to repair the damage and a third of a tank of gas was also gone.

"Why tear the car up? I'm sure they ran it hard and joyride," said Bennett.

He accepts blame for losing the ticket but says his car shouldn't have been given to the wrong driver.

"Obviously I am going to take greater care of my ticket so it doesn't get in someone else's position," said Bennett.

He would like the casino to change its valet procedures.
Cherokee Nation spokesperson Amanda Clinton released this statement to FOX23 News:

"Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa is widely known for our outstanding guest service and commitment to guest safety. Our valet department follows the top industry standards for checking and claiming vehicles. This matter is being fully investigated by the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service and fellow law enforcement agencies."

They also sent a picture of the disclaimer on the valet ticket, which claims the casino is not responsible for theft. (see attached picture)

Bennett would like the casino to require more than just a ticket. He wants identification and telling the valet the make and color of the car.

The casino has not changed procedures.

"It would have solved this, I would still have my car the way I dropped it off that night,” Bennett said.

Clinton said there is video surveillance of the thieves and the case is still under investigation. The video has not been released to the public.

Of course Bennett says that the casino should do a better job caring for the property of others. If Bennett did a better job caring for his own property (valet ticket) then he would not have this very problem. Sut up Bennett and accept your responsibility like a man and try to realize that YOU are why you are where you are today.

Oh well ;-) You played :-) You paid :-( $ 4,000.00 in the loss column. If you placed your valet ticket in your wallet like it had more value then you wouldn't have this problem. I don't patronize native casinos because they will not accept my identification. Same reason I skip WalMart.
