A hearing to determine if a woman charged with child porn should have her bond reduced has been delayed.
Sally Deupree, 55, of Tulsa, is in the Tulsa Co. Jail on a charge of attempting to procure the participation of a minor in child pornography.
Police say Deupree had contact with Ricky Lewis, of Tulsa.
Lewis was originally arrested on September 21st when Tulsa police served a search warrant for his electronic storage devices, including a cell phone and computers. Tulsa Police say several thousand images of child pornography were found on the computer and Lewis admitted to police he had 3 or 4 images of child porn on his phone.
Lewis was arrested again on September 27th when images and text messages on his cell phone were examined by investigators. Investigators say they found text messages asking women to send him nude photos of their children and texts about performing sexual acts on a 2-3 year old child.
The Cork family lives across the street. They called the arrest sad and pathetic.
"The fact it's happening across the street is just mind-blowing," said Colin Cork.
The father of two struggled to come to terms with what police say happened less than 20 yards from his home.
"It's very disturbing,” said Cork. “The fact that this happens is disturbing in itself.
Tulsa Police Corporal Greg Smith says it is one of the worst cases he’s been involved with.
"This is right up there in the top five," Smith said.
Two photos of Lewis performing a sexual act with his dog were also found and text messages detailing the act were also found according to the report. He told detectives he “only fantasized” about having sex with kids. However, investigators say it went beyond that.
"He was actively recruiting folks to bring their children in to meet with him for sex acts," Smith told FOX23.
"If you don't have a guide to go by then your just allowed to be turned over to your own devices and sins," said Sandra Cork, Colin’s mother.
TPD says Lewis used Craigslist to reach out to couples to exchange child porn and solicit sex with children. Documents show a woman, Brittiny Dick of Craig County, actually sent him nude photos of a three year old girl and Lewis texted her pornographic photos of an eight year old boy.
Prosecutors say a second woman, Sally Deupree, also communicated with Lewis.
"It is difficult because you can't understand where these people are coming from, where they get their interest because most people don't have that type of interest," said Smith.
He says they were tipped off last month by a couple Lewis had contacted on Craigslist. Dick faces one count of manufacturing child pornography. She has not yet been charged in Tulsa County since she is from Vinita.
Court documents say Sally Deupree received photos of a nude two-year-old girl from Lewis, then corresponded by text with Lewis about sexual activity involving the child, asking him to videotape it and send it to her. Prosecutors say no such video was ever discovered or sent. She is being held on $1.5 million bond.
Lewis is now formally charged with nine counts including aggravated possession of child pornography, procuring the participation of a minor child in child porn, manufacturing child porn, distribution of child porn, and several more related charges.
