Tulsa Police and fire crews are investigating after a body was found early Thursday morning inside a downtown Tulsa building.

Police say 29-year old Matthew L. Rocho, Jr. was found in the former Abundant Life building at 17th and Boulder. The building was formerly owned by Oral Roberts Evangelical Association, and was built in 1957.

Police say two men were in the building, when one of them fell down an elevator shaft and died. The other man called 911, and emergency crews came to help.

Crews had a hard time getting the man's body out, because of worries about possible asbestos contamination in the building.

Doubt he was killed by a live wire, but maybe he fell trying to take copper out of the elevator shaft, I know there is some wiring in shafts, most likely just couldn't see and walked into the shaft.

T real wiseguy. The property has been abandoned for thirty years. I doubt if anybody would pay the utilities on an abandoned building that long. As for copper mining that probably ended way before they got there. But on a different note I heard that lassie pushed Timmy down the well.

I'll bet you anything that the will find out that the electricity was on in the building. That guy is a thief And was probably going to.steal copper wire and when he cut it he probably got a big zap of electricity causing him to fall

Were they trespassing? They were probably looking for a warm place to stay, maybe homeless? Anyway, Elevator shafts are dangerous places especially if the building is run down, IMO no good reason for a firefighter to risk his life if the guy was already dead.
