Malerie Levens, a 11-year-old Owasso girl who is losing her sight because of a rare eye condition called Stargardt disease, will get her wish to see Justin Bieber before she goes blind.
FOX23 profiled the young girl earlier this month, telling the story of how her parents were looking for front row tickets to Bieber's tour stop in Tulsa in January. Malerie is already losing her sight, so front row seats were the only way to guarantee she'd actually see the Canadian pop star.
On Thursday, FOX23's Adam Paluka surprised Malerie on FOX23 News at 9:00 with the news Justin had seen her story and wanted to meet her in Los Angeles. Malerie screamed and jumped into her father Eric's arms when she heard the news.
After hearing that she would leave Friday at 4:00 a.m, in a limo that would take her and her parents to the airport, she said, "I am overwhelmed with joy."
Malerie said she plans to ask Justin about his favorite countries and how he gets from place to place. Her father said, "This is exactly what we wanted for Malerie."
Malerie made sure to thank supporters who had seen her story from FOX23 on Twitter, Facebook, or on CNN, "I want to say thank you to everyone that has been doing this for me, I really appreciate it, cause my wish has come true and if it wasn't for you guys it wouldn't have happened."
Malerie has started a foundation to raise awareness for people with eye conditions, to visit the foundation's website click here:
