A Bartlesville woman was arrested after allegedly being caught partially nude in a tanning room with a 15-year old boy.
Bartlesville Police responded to a call at Colaw Gym just after midnight on June 21st. A woman at the gym told police she caught her 15-year old son in one of the tanning rooms with a 34-year old Betsy Brashear. The woman also told police Brashear knew her son was only 15.
Police interviewed the mother, the 15-year old, a witness and Brashear about the incident. The mother told the officer she took her son to the gym with her and then saw Brashear flirting with her son and having him helping her in the gym. The mother said she asked other gym members to keep an eye on them.
She says one of those members later told her the teen went into a tanning room with Brashear. The mother told the officer she pounded on the door and her son answered, she said Brashear tried to hide in the room but the mother saw her in the room wearing only a sports bra and called police. A gym member confirmed her story.
Police talked to the 15-year old. Records show he told them Brashear asked him to spot her on the bench and then talked him into going into the tanning room. The teen told police when they got into the room Brashear took of her clothes and they kissed. He said his mother then knocked on the door.
Court records show Brashear told police she thought they had been called because the mother ‘went off ‘ on her, when an officer told her they were called because she was nude in a room with the teen she denied being nude.
Police say she told officers she’d given the teen a peck while working out and promised him another kiss near the water fountain. She told police when the boy worried about his mother seeing they went into the tanning room to kiss. Officers say Brashear told the there was nothing wrong or illegal about giving someone a kiss.
Police say Brashear never admitted to being nude in the room, even after being told the teen and his mother told them she was nude.
Brashear faces a felony count of lewd acts with a minor under 16.
