Tulsa police have arrested a man they say caused a crash that killed a woman in midtown Tulsa this week.

William Leon Bauders, 30, was arrested just before 1:30 a.m. Friday.

According to police reports, police contacted the owner of the truck that Bauders used. Once they spoke to the owner of the truck, she told them her son asked her to report the tag stolen.

Police said they began connecting the dots and Bauders was brought in for questioning and confessed, reports said.

On Wednesday, Bauders took off out of a parking lot Wednesday pulling the stolen trailer with a stolen truck. At one point, the trailer came unhitched and he continued on.

Officers said once Bauders reached the 900 block of S. Richmond Avenue, that's where they say he plowed into Christina Bradshaw's car, then ditched the truck, took off his clothes and ran away.

Bauders told officers that he ran away, not because he thought he killed someone, but because he thought he was being followed, reports stated.

The impact of the accident was so loud neighbors told FOX23 they heard the crash, and knew it was bad.

Bauders faces felony complaints of second-degree murder, leaving scene of a fatality collision, possession of a stolen vehicle, second-degree burglary, as well as misdemeanor complaints of failure to stop at a stop sign and driving under suspension.

Bauders' bond has been set to $519,600.

The reason he ran is irrelevant. The fact that he can smash into another vehicle without so much as checking on the occupants shows this asshat is a high quality POS that's of no use to this world and should be eliminated ASAP. Who's to say the victim couldn't have lived if she received a tiny amount of help? This guy should be burned at the stake in front of the whole town. Now he'll just get a free ride on our dime.

Why has the mother not been arrested? Instead of reporting the tag as stolen, she should have turned him in. Why is the police dept sitting on this? she is guilty of a false report and aiding and abetting a criminal.

It's good that they could box this animal. Streets safer one offender at a time.
