Andrew Carter joined the FOX23 News team in July 2013. He came to Tulsa from KOMU 8 News in Columbia, MO where he worked as a multi-media journalist, anchor, and producer.

Andrew was born and raised in Naperville, IL—20 miles southwest of Chicago. He loves sports and has wanted to somehow stay involved his whole life. From the moment he realized his athletic “skills” didn’t translate to an MLB or NBA career, he thought, “Well, I guess I can report on it.” From there, he developed a love for telling stories, talking to people, and being in the middle of the action—even if he wasn’t playing on the field or on the court.

Andrew’s most memorable story comes from when he was a young journalist in college and he found himself in his first media room at the Big 12 Basketball championships, eating free Kansas City BBQ, and sitting at a table with ESPN talent and NBA scouts. “Is this real life?” he thought. He came to find out this happens a lot, and it’s just as great each time.

Andrew’s favorite thing about Oklahoma has to be all the new food! Chicago has great food, but Tex-Mex and local hot spots like The Brook are making up for life without Portillos. And country music… the weather is warm enough year-round that Andrew finds country acceptable 24/7.

Andrew’s guilty pleasure is pop music—specifically female pop singers. “It’s like kicking a field goal,” he says. “The writing is sub-par and low risk, but the people love it and it works every time. Katy Perry and Selena Gomez can just keep doing what they are doing in my book.”
